Medicare Part C

(Medicare Advantage Plan)

Medicare Part C, also called Medicare Advantage is an alternative to the original Medicare (Parts A and B).

Medicare Advantage plans, which are offered by private insurance companies that are approved by Medicare. Individuals must enroll in both Part A and Part B to join a Medicare Advantage plan. You will still be in the Medicare program, but you'll receive your benefits through the plan instead of through Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans combine coverage for hospital care, doctor visits and other medical services all in one plan. Plans are required to provide all of the benefits offered by Medicare Parts A and B except hospice care, which continues to be provided by Part A. Many of these plans also provide prescription drug coverage and additional benefits like routine dental and eye care.

Medicare Part D

(Prescription Drug Coverage)

Part D adds prescription drug coverage to the original Medicare, some Medicare Cost Plans, some Medicare Private -Fee-for-Service plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans. These plans offered by insurance companies and other private companies approved by Medicare. Medical Advantage Plans may also offer prescription drug coverage that follows the same rules as Medicare Prescription Drug Plans.
